Tutoring grounded in first principles, taught with care.
A small academy of high-achieving university tutors, teaching South African learners online — under the direction of Lincoln Matthews.
Results
The marks moved.
“My son had been struggling with Mathematics and ended Term 1 with 28%. This term, he improved to 51%, which is a significant achievement for us.”
“With his support, I improved from Level 2/3 in Grade 10 to consistent Level 6s throughout matric. His explanations were clear and easy to understand.”
“My daughter has been tutored by Lincoln and Lelethu since 2021. Her marks have improved tremendously and she now looks forward to classes and asks questions.”
“Lincoln is a dedicated and talented tutor. His patient, engaging and personalised approach helped our children not only improve their grades but also develop a genuine love for learning.”
“What sets Lincoln apart is how relatable he is. Over time he became more than just a tutor — he became a mentor who helped me believe in myself.”
Subject streams
Three disciplines, one standard.
Our subjects are grouped not by convenience, but by the way of thinking each one rewards. Wherever a learner places themselves on this map, the standard of instruction is the same.
STEM
Students often fail not because the material is too difficult, but because they have rote-learned formulas without understanding their derivation. We teach from first principles: visual models, careful proofs, and a steady accumulation of intuition.
Commerce
The volume of theory and the rigour of formatting in Accounting overwhelms most learners. We teach strict exam technique alongside financial literacy, so the balance sheet stops being a ritual and starts making sense in the real world.
Languages
“I don’t know what to write” is the most common difficulty we hear. We teach the PEEL method for essays, work line by line through Shakespearean poetry, and bring literary themes into a contemporary context.
How we teach
An approach, not just a service.
Three commitments hold across every class we run, in every subject and every curriculum.
Small groups, full attention
Sessions are capped at eight learners. Small enough that no question goes unheard; structured enough that no hour is wasted.
Understanding before drill
We do not move to past-paper practice until the underlying concept is secure. Drill without understanding is the cause, not the cure, of poor marks.
Mentorship, not just instruction
Our tutors are undergraduate and postgraduate students at South Africa's leading universities. They mentor from inside the same system learners are moving into.
Fees
Rigour, at a fee that families can carry.
We publish our fees because we are not embarrassed by them. Small-group teaching lets us hold a high standard of instruction without charging by the hour for it — and it lets a learner stay with us for years rather than weeks.
Group tutoring
Weekly online classes of no more than eight, for learners who need routine, explanation and accountability.
One-on-one
Private tuition for learners with urgent gaps, low confidence, or a pace that a group cannot serve.
Intensive support
Concentrated revision before June exams, prelims and finals: paper practice, topic triage, consolidation.
